Injection Plugging for Closing DPFs

Injection Plugging for Closing DPFs

Adaptive Equipment has developed a proprietary, injection plugging technology that rapidly and reliably seals alternating channels in a DPF substrate. This technology can accommodate a variety of channel-sealant rheologies and provides very uniform plug depths to within +/- 1mm. This process also known as closing or sealing includes the use of a mechanism that can plug a number of channels simultaneously leading to a very efficient process.

The injection plugging system can simultaneously seal up to 24 channels. The volume of sealant injected into each channel is regulated based on channel area to produce uniform plug depths across the DPF face. Dispense cycle time is typically between 0.7s to 1.0s. Up to 120, 144mm diameter DPFs can be closed each day with this system using a robotic based material handler. Considerably higher throughputs can be achieved when this technology is implemented in a closing and inspection line dedicated for DPF segments.

Adaptive Equipment can also provide equipment to facilitate sealing or closing by generating plastic masks for each DPF face using our proprietary vision technology and laser processing.
